Once in the city, head to Vieux Port, where there are hundreds of market stalls to browse. Just like other typical Provence markets, the market at Vieux Port includes a fantastic range of stalls. From fish and vegetables to clothing and jewelry, there is nothing you can’t buy here. Many locals choose to shop here instead of in stores and supermarkets because the price, as well as the quality, is better.

Before leaving the city, why not stop for lunch at a traditional pub or eatery? Here, you can get all manner of dishes, including a traditional fish stew, known as Bouillabaisse. If fish isn’t your thing, there are also lots of other yummy dishes to choose from.

Visit the Gorges du Verdon

Known as the Grand Canyon of Verdon, the Gorges du Verdon is Europe’s steepest canyon. With ragged rocks, dusty trails, and green water running through it, this is something you don’t want to miss.

For keen hikers, the Gorges du Verdon also has many hiking trails to explore, including some inside the canyon’s caves. It might be a long trek, but the views at the top are absolutely amazing.

It’s important to note that hiking up the gorge includes squeezing through some tiny caves. So if small spaces scare you, it might not be for you. However, if you are a keen caver, then this might be the perfect activity to keep you occupied.

Chill out at Cassis

Originally a fishing port, Cassis has many winding streets and old buildings to explore. Complete with ancient architecture, Cassis is somewhere not to be missed. The beaches are beautiful, the food is great and the sea is warm, what’s not to like about this seaside town? Plus, as it’s a seaside town, Cassis is home to lots of lovely seafood restaurants.

There is also plenty of nightlife you can enjoy here. From bars to cinemas, there are lots of things to do. Whether you want to take romantic evening strolls along the beach or just sit and sip a glass of wine in a bar, Cassis has it all.
